A: Yes. It is free in both the monetary and philosophical senses. BitBlinder is free because our users contribute to the network by relaying data for other users. This ensures that the network stays fast for everyone. We realize that not everyone is able or willing to act as a proxy for Internet traffic, and so we will be allowing people to contribute money in lieu of bandwidth in the future. BitBlinder is open source, so it is also free of malware.
Q: Why do you make me register for an anonymity service?

A: We need to do accounting to keep the network fast. We have no interest in tracking you or your actions online; however, we need to ensure that users only use as much traffic as they provide for others (minus the padding of the few gigs we give to new signups of course).
